ADULT PROGRAMS

Evolution Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Lead by IBJJF 1st degree Black Belt Dan Guillemette Evolution BJJ is designed to provide students with a solid base in Brazilian jiu-jitsu through theories, techniques and principles. Our classes incorporate both fundamentals and drills designed to show students how to use the fluidity of movement, transitions and offensive/defense strategies to improve their game.  You can equate these manoeuvres to a form of kinetic chess where a submission hold is the equivalent of checkmate.

Jiu-Jitsu No Gi

Our no gi jiu-jitsu program focuses on learning and applying the fundamentals of Brazilian jiu-jitsu without the traditional gi (kimono).  Also known as “Submission Wrestling” this program is often the base for students preparing to compete in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Our n -gi program is a mix of BJJ, Freestyle Wrestling, Greco Romaine Wrestling, as well as some Japanese styles.

Judo (14 years +)

Judo is a way of life, a martial art, combat sport created in Japan in 1882 by Jigoro Kano. Its most prominent feature is its competitive element, where the objective is to either throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. Recognized as an Olympic sport since 1964, Judo requires of its athletes to have strength, speed and concentration and to practice with their teammates in order to meet the challenges of competition. Evolution Judo is under the technical direction of Daniel Poirier.

Tristar Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) – Level 1

As part of Canada's #1 Mixed Martial Arts Team, led by World-Renowned Coach Firas Zahabi our MMA program Level 1 will teach you the basic techniques of MMA. Broken down into two specific classes, twice a week the emphasis will be on improving your striking(Muay Thai)and the other two days will be ground work (no gi).  MMA is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground, including Boxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thaï, and Judo. The goal of MMA is to defeat your opponent by submission, decision, TKO, or referee stoppage. 

Tristar MMA Training Camp

This class is specifically for our students getting ready for their amateur or pro fights.

Muay Thaï

Known as the science of eight limbs, you will develop the ability to deliver power punches, kicks, knees and elbows from all angles and every range to all parts of the body. With a focus on real world outcomes, Muay Thai develops functional skills that apply both in and out of the ring, all within a relatively short time frame. Our focus will be on Fundamentals and their application in Sparring.


Adult / Youth Boxing (Youth should be between the ages of 12 to 17 years) - New

Our Adult / Youth Boxing program is for learning the basics of modern Olympic Boxing with an emphasis on conditioning. Olympic Boxing is a perfect way of learning highly effective self-defence skills and getting you in good physical shape at the same time. Boxing is not only challenging physically but also mentally as it is commonly called the “science” of striking. Thus, Boxing helps you to improve yourself mentally and physically, pushing your limits every training session. Although fighting and sparring is not required, testing your limits and going beyond them is. Boxing workouts are one of the best workouts for constant improvement.

Wrestling (13 + years)

Learn the fundamentals of Wrestling techniques intended for BJJ, Judo, and MMA.  Through individual technique development, fast-paced live drilling & rounds, and wrestling based workouts, develop base, strength, movement, and cardio, while learning tournament tested wrestling takedowns and takedown defenses.  Intended for ages 13+, and welcome to all skill levels.

Conditioning Program – (​HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training)

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a form of exercise in which you alternate between very intense anaerobic periods and slower recovery periods for a shorter, more efficient workout. “The high intensity intervals should be performed at near maximum effort and the recovery intervals should be done at about 50%. For example a beginner would start with 5 sets of 4 x (10 sec high intensity + 30 sec moderate intensity) with 2 minutes of rest between each set, to gradually evolve into 3 sets of 10 x (20 sec of high intensity + 20 sec of moderate intensity) with 1 minute of rest between sets.


GymBuddy - New


Our GymBuddy program based on a competitive athletes conditioning routine, with a goal of getting you in shape in the shortest amount of time (the whole session lasts 6 weeks). To be able to train, you need to come with a friend or with someone you know (your gym buddy), as all exercises are done in pairs, which provides constant physical and mental support during each training session. The program consists of 3 phases; Phase ONE (first two weeks) we will work with you on preparing your cardio and muscles for the high intensity training you will be doing in phase 2; Phase TWO (next three weeks) you will train 3 times a week doing a boxing cardio conditioning workout and 2 times a week doing fitness conditioning workout; Phase THREE (final week) you will finish the program with yoga based stretching exercises and gymnastics to help boost your immune system and general health level.


Note: Each session requires a minimum of 10 participants.

KIDS AND YOUTH PROGRAMS

Evolution Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Kids (4 to 6 years old) / Youth (7 years +)

Our Brazilian jiu-jitsu Kids/Youth program will help build self-confidence, respect, courage, discipline, sportsmanship, concentration and coordination. The techniques taught will allow a smaller, weaker person to defend themselves against a larger opponent through the use of leverage and angles. Our instructors teach effective self-defence while making each class challenging, technical and fun. Through martial arts your child will develop skills that will last him/her for a lifetime.

 Wrestling for BJJ/Judo- Kids (4 to 6 years)

This class is designed to help develop your child’s physical literacy, while learning the fundamentals of wrestling applicable to Wrestling, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and other martial arts.  Through drilling wrestling techniques, and wrestling based games, we aim to also develop strength, balance, and agility. In this fast-paced class, games are used to help develop body awareness & control, listening skills, and coachability, while drilling technique develops posture, base, strength and wrestling skills.  This class is intended for kids ages 4-6, new to martial arts.

Wrestling for BJJ/Judo - Youth (6 to 15 years)

This class is intended to develop Wrestling skills used for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and other martial arts.  Through drilling technique, scrimmaging, and high paced warm-ups and cool-downs, intended to prepare children for competition.  With the focus on wrestling techniques for BJJ competition, your children will develop power, speed, cardio, and overall toughness.  These fast-paced classes are intended for all kids, no matter skill level, between the ages of 6-15.
